Sicily and Rome: Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be in shape to walk on this trip?
Yes you'll be comfortable walking on cobblestone streets rolling your luggage and be able to walk up steep steps with your luggage.
When we are shooting, we don't move that fast as the scenery is stunning and we'll stop quite often to drink it all in.
Do I have to drink wine? I don't drink.
No, you don't have to drink wine but it will be present at almost every meal. Many people drink wine or beer with lunch in Sicily and Italy.
I'm a vegetarian, will I be able to eat well in Italy?
Italians are meat lovers so the menus are slanted towards carnivores but you can find many dishes of fresh pasta without meat and of course the best gelato on earth. This won't be a light eating trip, as you'll want to try the amazing food and wine.
Where will we stay?
In Taormina, the Villa Paradiso is a wonderful hotel that you can book or I will suggest other places. It has amazing views. In Rome, I will suggest places for you to stay. And different ways to book accommodation. I'm staying in the Trastevere neighborhood, culturally colorful and full of yummy food.
Only 4 participants in our private adventure.
Where will we go?
Tantalizing Taormina and Cefalu, a hidden seaside gem. Or ravishing Rome. You can opt to go to one or more with me.
We'll take a train to the stunning town of Cefalu from Taormina
and you can rest and relax here before continuing on or flying home from Palermo.
Tip: best to fly into Catania, CTA if you are going to Taormina. If you're coming to Rome, FCO has the most options for ground transit. Taxi, train, bus. I recommend a taxi from FCO into Rome, or if you're traveling light, you can easily take the Leonardo Express Train from the airport, that's what I do.
