Rome is one of the most exquisite and exhilarating cities in the world! We'll be strolling through the historic center of Rome taking photos of people, fountains, and ancient architecture.
Are you a foodie?
We'll stop to eat and drink at swank trattorias and humble family bistros on every cobblestoned lane that I've eaten so it's pre-vetted.
Why go with us?
1. Rome isn't clogged with people carrying selfie sticks in Winter.
2. Escape and meet new friends, only 4 to 6 people in each workshop.
3. Discover how to take photos without hordes of humanity blocking your view.
4. This is for you if you're a solo traveler
5. You don't have to love photography, but I'll guide you to the most fun places for eating, walking, and enjoying the joie de vivre of Rome
We'll walk the streets of ancient Rome learning how to see in a new way.
You'll get one on one hands-on guidance in Light, Composition, Angle, and Timing.
Bring any camera or phone.
60% of participants bring their iphones or androids. If you have a swank camera you want to master, you can bring it. I'll show you how to use it. Whatever you have just bring it!
This is for you if you would love to see Rome, Italy but don't want to go solo.
And you'll get your own private room. In the best neighborhood where you can walk to all the culture, food, exotic fountains, and monuments that Rome is famous for.
This isn't for you if you want to have a daily regimented schedule with no free time to breathe or allow this new dimension to melt into your being.
This will ignite your heart and mind and suddenly you'll be seeing in a new way. We shoot together both in the day and at night. But you don't have to shoot to have an exhilarating time in Italy!
You'll come home with remarkable photos that you took with any camera you have (yes you can shoot with your iPhone or android)
Here's what you get in your hands on 5-day photography retreat with me:
You learn how to see the photo before you take it
You don’t need fancy software, a new camera, or Photoshop skills (I don’t use it)
You learn how to choose the right angle, compose a shot, see light before you shoot, and practice magical timing when taking photos of people.
You’ll learn why some of your photos are incredible, so you can keep doing those behaviors and also learn why other photos don’t work so you can stick with what works.
Many photos can be corrected by going out and shooting again and getting better results. This is what I learned from being a film-only photographer for 25 years but here’s the thing: since 2012 I’ve been shooting with digital cameras and it’s easier to teach as you correct the problems as you shoot and not have to fumble with Photoshop later
Are you lusting for Italy?
The best time to see it is when the crowds get lighter. And the weather is still pleasant.
Guaranteed to be one of the most fun adventures of your life!
And you'll take the best photos you've ever captured with me, a 35-year award winning photographer in Palo Alto, California, owner of my business in the heart of Silicon Valley.
